Here’s How
Are you a good listener; do you enjoy fundraising? Can
you help with or sponsor a party; donate items that
you no longer use or need. Then the Council of
Organizations needs you.
What is the Council?
The Council of Organizations is a
501 (c) 3,
non-profit charitable organization governed
by a volunteer board established in 1969. The Council
consists of a group of individuals who assist the
students and staff of the Woodrow Wilson
Rehabilitation Center with gifts, moneys and volunteer
services.
What does the
Council do?
The Council provides volunteer services at the Center
and conducts various fund
raising events to support the following:
- the WWRC Chapel
Program
- a clothes closet
- transportation needs
- special events;
i.e., family day, field trips, concerts, etc.
- donation of specific
household items and appliances to help students set
up housekeeping volunteer requests identified by
WWRC staff; i.e., clerical, administrative, as well
as direct service to students.
The Council also
provides personal services to students such as
assistance with letter writing, shopping, and other
chores, as well as major projects such as
re-furbishing the lobby in the Medical/Administration
Building.
How often does the
Council meet?
- The Council meets in
April and October of each year at 6:30PM in the main
dining hall.
- The Council also has
a Special Holiday Meal the second Tuesday of
December at 6:30PM in the Chapel.
- The Council's
Executive Board meets the first Tuesday of every
month at 10:00AM in the Residential Administration's
Conference Room on Carter/Ashley Hall.

Some Council
Accomplishments
Past
- provided funds for
the construction of the WWRC Chapel
- purchased a bus,
self-propelled stretchers, and sports wheelchairs
- landscaped access to
the lake
- provided an indoor
swimming pool and outdoor picnic shelter
Ongoing
- purchases Christmas
gifts for students remaining at the Center over the
holidays
- assists with
graduation receptions for graduates and their
families
- sponsors annual
special events; i.e., Las Vegas Night, Halloween
Party, etc.
